What is Working Draft Summer Camp?

A retreat for all writers. Inclusive. Intentional. Inspired.

A four-day, in-person writing retreat for writers at every stage—led by bestselling authors Gregory Ashe, Jordan L. Hawk, Josh Lanyon, and C.S. Poe.

Working Draft Summer Camp brings together a diverse, supportive group of writers for four transformative days of learning, reflection, and creation. Whether you’re new to the page or decades into your career, this retreat will help you get unstuck, get inspired, and get connected—with your voice, your project, and your peers.

You’ll join daily workshops, take part in skill-building sessions, share your work (if you choose), and have time to simply write. Every participant also has the opportunity to meet one-on-one with our instructors for tailored feedback and encouragement.

The retreat will run from Sunday, July 19 to Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Loyola’s Retreat & Ecology Campus just outside Chicago. (https://www.luc.edu/retreatcampus
